I am currently working with a bride and groom who love to travel and want to incorporate that into their wedding. We haven't had a real sit down yet, but it got me inspired to make an inspiration board for a vintage inspired travel wedding. I am not one for going really over the top with themes, but I love all the little touches and sayings you can add into the reception. Lots of travel items are very in style for weddings anyways. Using vintage suitcases to not only being the card box, but use smaller suitcases filled with flowers for centerpieces. I love using vintage maps both as the guest seating chart, but find a map of the city you live in and have guests sign it as the guest book, frame and hang up at your house. Use the names of places as your table names instead of numbers.
I also love using globes, baggage tags, plane tickets and passports as accent pieces throughout the wedding. There are easy ways to make new items look older and used. So don't worry about having to find all vintage items, purchase something new and distress it.
There is an endless amount of possibilities when going with a travel theme. My brides wedding is not until next year, but I cannot wait to come up with some amazing travel theme ideas. Enjoy!

Peach + Gray :: Color Inspiration
As the winter weather comes along, spring and summer brides and getting ready to choose colors and get started with all their planning. One of my favorite color combos is peach and gray. It is subtle and elegant to go with any sunny day! There are different shades of both colors, so you can really play around with color combinations. Gray is an easy to work with natural for both guys suits and girls dresses. Peach is a soft accent to any flower arrangement and tablescape or bridesmaid dress. This color combo can go great with a turquoise or dark purple to add some more color to the pallet. Enjoy!

A lot of these items are DIY and you can make as a centerpiece at home or at your wedding or event. What a great way to decorate your office for the holiday season then with some fresh cranberries and some birch? Here is a taste of some of the great winter inspiration coming your way as summer winds down... Enjoy!

Burlap :: Fabric Inspiration
As I sat in the office today wishing I was outside, I started to look at some of the great linen books that we have lying around. There are so many great colors and types of fabrics, but one that I have always loved for its great texture and color is burlap. Although not the most sophisticated of fabrics, burlap has great dimension and can be used for some many different things throughout a wedding or event. It works great if you are going for a natural, rustic feel. Burlap is also not that expensive and you can find it in most fabric stores or through most linen companies. It is a great linen for spring, summer and fall since it is such a simple, natural color!
I love burlap as a table runner, it truly adds something special and creates a great flow down a long rectangular table. You can have anything from your initials, wedding date, designs, ect. printed on burlap for a fun keepsake for your guests. You can also you the burlap in your wedding favors, escort cards, tables numbers and many other items. Make sure you check with your linen provider to see what kind of burlap the linens will be in, since some are more rough than others. I would not suggest you get a napkin out of burlap for your guests, they might not want to use the semi rough fabric... but otherwise the possibilities are endless. Here are some of my favorite's!

An Oldie But Goodie :: Vintage Love
Vintage has always been in, from vintage cars, clothes, music and art. Everyone loves something old that can be used in a new way! Weddings and events are a great way to bring in some vintage items to add dimension and uniqueness. Use items you find in your garage, at yard sales or thrift stores. Use some vintage bikes or cars in your pictures or wear some vintage jewelry. There are so many ways to use vintage items, the sky is the limit! You can have a full our vintage themed wedding or just use items that work with your color scheme or another theme! I am in love with using vintage items for engagement and wedding photos as well, you do not have to add them to your event just the pictures.

Orange, Pink & Yellow :: Color Inspiration
Orange is a hot color for this spring and has so many great color combinations, one I especially love is the combination of Orange, Pink and Yellow. Orange comes in so many shades and works well in florals, accents, dresses or anything else. Show your crazy side with bright orange or keep it classic with light orange. Almost every shade of pink and yellow with work orange and allow for sunny pops of color! You can also use oranges {the fruit}, grapefruit and lemons with your color scheme in vases or as the holders for your escort cards! These colors are the epitome of spring and summer and can be used in some many different ways! Leomonade and pink lemonade, orange, yellow and pink florals, ribbons, ect. I love these colors together and I hope you get some great inspiration!

Mason Jars :: Southern Rustic Charm
Now that summer is right around the corner and it is inevitable I will be spending more time outside, I keep thinking about mason jars. Drinking out of them, playing games with them, putting candles in them; there are so many uses for the mason jar at either a rustic spring or summer wedding. Enjoy some of the great picks and even if you are not using them at a wedding or event make a mojito, put it in a mason jar and sit outside and relax!

Color of the Week: Yellow
I am starting to feel that dragging feeling you get when winter seems like it will never end! I found some cute yellow shirts in my closet and started to automatically think of spring again. What a beautiful color for spring and summer weddings. I feel like yellow makes everyone happier and smile. Yellow pairs perfectly with so many colors that you can really make it your own: grey and yellow for a more subtle glow, blue and yellow for a little excitment, yellow and pink for the girliest of brides. Yellow can fit any attitude and any brides style since it is so versatile. It is also a great color to use at any other corporate or social event since it is a bright and happy color that pairs or accents almost any other colors.
Don't want yellow as one of your main colors, use it as an accent color in flowers, prints or little pieces throughout your event. Yellow is a common color for flowers and you can find some cheap yellow flowers to add the perfect accent. I also love adding yellow ribbon to some items just to bring in the brightness. Here are some great pictures of yellow pairings and accents! I hope yellow can bring some happiness and sunshine into everyone's lives during this dreary winter season! Enjoy!

Color of the Week: Natural Light Green
This is my favorite color for weddings… it is already in my wedding album for whenever my wedding happens. It is also one of the hottest colors to use right now! Since the natural green is subtle and beautiful, it goes with many colors and can easily fit into any theme. I especially love it for an outdoor wedding with a preppy feel. I love the color with subtle blues, oranges and pinks since it complements the natural green. Pretty much what I want my wedding to be! I also love the natural green with white flowers since it is clean and simple. It looks great with wood vases and birdcages! I also love this color for any season wedding, since like I said earlier, it is so clean and versatile. Since the color is found is so many fruit, it is a great idea to incorporate that into your wedding. Using apples and pears as escort cards work well! Other natural items like limes, artichokes and grass are great accents to your wedding/event! There are so many other ways to use the green color in different variations! Be creative with the color and add it in innovative ways to your event or wedding!
Here are some of my FAVORITE pictures of natural green used in weddings/events. I cannot get over this color and am even using it as a flower accent to some brighter painted furniture! Oh did I mention it looks great in you house against a brighter wall. The colors of white and natural green are so clean it contrasts great with brighter items. Enjoy!

Spring's Coming Early {Cherry Blossoms}
With all this cold weather I started thinking about spring! Cherry Blossoms are an amazing flower that are prevalent in Japan , but are also found every spring in Washington DC . I love going to the cherry blossom festival around the city and seeing all the amazing pink flowers everywhere. Weather you are in Japan , DC or anywhere, cherry blossoms are a great flower to use as a theme throughout your wedding. If you want a light pink color are part of your wedding colors, then this flower is a perfect choice. It is subtle and delicate, going great with whites and browns or blues and silvers. You can make the flower as much a part of your wedding as wanted, just incorporate them into the floral arrangements or make it an all out theme. The flowers may be hard to find during some seasons, but I love seeing the use of cherry blossoms during a delicate winter wedding and throughout the spring. If you live in the Washington , DC area or an area where cherry blossoms bloom, take engagement pictures with the trees or take a break on your wedding day to take pictures around the trees. If anything take inspiration from the amazing colors of pink and white for your wedding or event.

The Spice of Life
Every night I come home from work and cook dinner, while my boyfriend does, and every night I am amazed at the brilliant color of spices. When thinking of where the best spices come from I immediately though of India. They use spices in everything and every spice has a wild color and fragrance. I love the mixture of reds, oranges, yellows, greens and browns that make up their spice jars. I felt inspired to look at events and weddings that use colors inspired by India's spices to real spice up the party. Some of these colors are bold and daring, while others are subtle and cool. Together they make up an amazing color palette. Bring in some of these amazing colors at your next event or work them into your wedding to accentuate your colors and flowers. Below is some inspiration for us all from these great spices!
